An official of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) said that even though there were very few vehicles in the initial hours, the traffic increased by dawn.

"In fact, it even exceeded our expectations and by 10 a.m., an estimated 10,000-plus vehicles had already traversed the bridge, and the numbers are only increasing as the weather is quite pleasant," an official was quoted as saying in a news agency report.

With the families and youngsters out to take a joy ride on the bridge, the seven minute bridge led to an hour's commute from one end to the other.
