Patna-based family horrified over Geneva store placing shoes on Budhha statue
Geneva, June 28 (ANI): An Indian family has expressed its shock over a footwear store in Geneva trying to attract customers by hanging shoes on a statue of Lord Buddha.
Patna-based Prabhat Choudhary, who is currently on a tour of Switzerland with his family, said that his 15-year old daughter noticed the footwear garlanded statue of Buddha in the store.
"We were in Switzerland's city of Geneva, where my daughter Prerna saw a footwear shop with a wooden statue of Gautam Buddha. The statue, highlighted with spotlights, was garlanded with a pair of footwear. There footwear were being sold in this manner, which was intolerable," Choudhary said.
The family was so offended that they wanted to return home immediately.
"All our excitement of holidaying in Europe faded away. We wanted to return, but our tickets were fixed," Choudhary said.
In the past, the portrayal of Hindu deities on undergarments and toilet seats has enraged the Indian community. (ANI)
