SC asks Centre to file affidavit on racial attacks

New Delhi, Jun 22: Amid the increasing reports of the racial attacks on the Indian Students in Australia and Canada, the Supreme Court of India has asked the centre to file an affidavit before it by Jun 26 on the step taken to ensure the safety of its students.

The bench of Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Asok Kumar Ganguly on Monday, Jun 22 directed the centre to file the affidavit and posted the matter for further hearing to Jun 29.

The court passed this order in response to the PIL filed by advocate DK Garg. The PIL accused the government of not showing any interest in protecting the life of Indian citizens who are abroad.
