Highlights of BJP's National Executive Meet-Day 1

New Delhi, Jun 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party held the crucial National Executive Meet on Saturday, Jun 20. With the poll debacle, the party's 'troubles' list is a long one. The party is falling apart as senior members resign from their posts. It faces criticism from the outside in terms of the Hindutva ideology too.

Ravi Shankar Prasad addressed the media giving a brief idea about the first day of the crucial two day National executive meet.

Below are excerpts from his address:

On Poll defeat:
BJP believes in the concept of collective responsibility
Rajnath Singh takes up the moral responsibility of the poll debacle

On Hindutva:
The poll verdict is not a verdict on our concept of Hindutva
Our idea on Hindutva is tolerant and liberal
We must have had a more contemporary rhetoric of the ideology

On the role of BJP in the government:
We will support the govt for country's benefit
We will be constructive opposition
Party believes in national justice
Our party must be seen in contrast to congress

On the neighbours:

The party believes that the Tamils in Sri Lanka must be represented
Pakistan army must come under the complete control of civilian democracy
