Mumbai, Jun 13: Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor, who was blamed for not taking charge during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has been transferred as Director General (Housing), Maharashtra Police.

The transfer came to light on Saturday, Jun 13 in the wake of the Ram Pradhan committee"s report which accuses him of failing as a leader during the 26/11 attacks. The report was submitted to the Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan just a few days ago.

The report claimed that the police chief was unable to coordinate action and left it to his junior officials to deal with the situation. He did not visit different sites to assess the magnitude of the situation, an official said.

He also did not implement standard operating procedure, put in place after the Jul 2006, train bombings to distinguish the roles of senior police officers in crises.

As of now the Joint Commissioner, K L Prasad has been appointed as the acting Mumbai Police chief.
