Daylight bank robbery in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, June 11(ANI): In a broad daylight heist, four armed men looted 6.1 million rupees from two nationalised bank employees while they were carrying the money to their bank's headquarters.

The incident occurred around 11 am on Thursday when two employees-Rajendrabhai Patel and Parin Shah-were transporting the cash in two large bags in a car from the Bank's branch in Parimal Garden to the bank's headquarters at Kalupur.

The robbers shot at both the bank employees and left them injured.

"The car was intercepted by four armed men near the bank premises at Parimal Garden and when the officials resisted they were fired upon from close range. They sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to a private hospital for emergency treatment," a police officer said.

"The robbers fled the scene with the cash in a waiting car," police said.

Police suspect that the loot was pre-planned and robbers had tracked down the routine of the bank employees as the robbery took place at a short distance from Ellisbridge branch.

"A passerby informed officials of the bank about the incident and soon after the police was informed. A hunt had been launched to nab the robbers with intense checking of vehicles ordered at all state border points," the police officer added. (ANI)
