Ghaziabad: Man kills his 5 kids, attempts suicide

Ghaziabad, Jun 8: A driver allegedly killed his children and attempted to kill his wife before trying to commit suicide by slashing his veins.

While some media reports suggest that the 40-year-old driver, Ravinder Verma did this as he could not deal with increasing financial crisis, other reports suggest that he indulged in this kind of violence only because he was drunk.

There are varying reports on what he did to his family too. Some media reports claim that the man tried to stone his family to death with bricks; others say he bludgeoned his five children and some state that he stabbed his family.

Apart from this, the officials said, "His relatives have told police that he was also suffering from some mental illnesses and had attacked his children and wife earlier also."

The five children were aged between nine months and 12 years and have been identified as Anjali, Preeti, Devraj, Priyanka and Ashu. The children reportedly died on the spot.

The wife is critically injured. Ravinder Verma is also in critical condition and is in a state of shock.
