Prez's address to reveal UPA's agenda on Jun 4

New Delhi, Jun 4: President Pratibha Patil is expected to address the joint session of Parliament on Thursday, Jun 4 wherein she will formally disclose the agenda of the UPA government.

The President's address will reveal the agenda the UPA government has set for its second term. The address, which was extensively worked on by the PM Manmohan Singh and his council of Ministers who met on May 30, will include the policies and programmes that the Congress-led government wishes to incorporate.

The agenda worked upon by the Manmohan Singh led cabinet is expected to concentrate on strengthening welfare schemes and promoting the economy.

As per the Indian constitution, it is customary for the President of the country to addresses both Houses of Parliament after the Members have made and subscribed the oath and the Speaker has been elected.
