RGV distorts national anthem in 'Rann': SC

New Delhi, May 26: India's Apex court, the Supreme Court of India criticised Ram Gopal Varma for distorting the national anthem in his forthcoming film 'Rann'. SC said that RGV's new movie is giving national anthem a 'totally negative senses'.

"We have read it. It gives a totally negative sense. It seems every line of national anthem has been proved wrong. Nobody has got a right to tinker with the national anthem," a vacation bench of Justices V S Sirpurkar and R M Lodha said.

Apex court also refused to quash the order passed by the Censor Board on May 8, directing Verma to delete certain 'objectionable' reference made to the national anthem in the movie.

Rann stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Gul Panag.
