Mamata, Buddhadeb to visit cyclone Aila hit areas
Kolkata, May 26: Mamata Banerjee, the newly appointed Union Railway Minister and West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee will visit the Cyclone Aila hit Kolkata and five other adjoining districts on Tuesday, May 26. The cyclone so far have claimed 30 lives and over 1 lakh people are displaced.
Mamata will be taking charge of her ministry at the Eastern Railways Headquarters in Kolkata and not at the Rail Bhavan in New Delhi. She will board a special train for Kakdwip in South 24 Parganas, one of the worst affected areas.
Meanwhile the Calcutta University have postponed all the exams due to the cyclone Aila. The cyclone has now moved northwards. It has also weakened along the way, but Met department predicts heavy rainfall in West Bengal and neighbouring areas in the next 24 hours. On Tuesday, May 26, the situation is improved in Kolkata and flight services are resumed.
