Delhi police solve Chirag Khandelwal murder case
New Delhi, May 24: Delhi police claims that they have cracked a kidnapping and murder case of August 2008. The Victim, Chirag Khandelwal, 17-yr old was killed and his body was brutally severed by his abductors.
Police reveal that the alleged murderers of Chirag, were Gaurav and Mahender Giri, who kidnapped and brutally killed hin in August 2008. The duo allegedly lured Chirag to an unknown location on August 17, under the pretext that he knew questions that would figure in Chirag's Class XII board exam.
Later the kidnappers had demanded a ransom amount of Rs 50 lakh. But when Chirag's parents approached the police for help, they panicked. After a massive search of eight months it was finally through sustained technical surveillance that the accused were arrested.
DCP Special Cell, Alok Kumar said, "We have recovered the victim's head. His watch and spectacles have also been recovered from the accused." Police also say that Chirag's kidnapping was planned well in advance, Kumar also said "One of the two took admission in the same coaching centre as Chirag so that he could get close to him." Both the accused have now been sent to police custody.
