Kolkata, May 6: A day after AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi claimed that he was confident of Left support to Manmohan Singh, Trinamool Congress chief and Congress' new found ally in West Bengal flayed his remarks and their timing.

"Our position is clear. If the Congress joins hands with the CPM or the Left after the polls, we cannot continue to be with them (Congress). There is no question of co-existence for us and the CPM," said Mamata Banerjee.

Reports suggest that Mamata had made it clear to Congress party that Rahul's comments had demoralised her and asked the party to choose between TC or Left-the two being rivals in West Bengal.

"....on a lot of concepts we agree with the Left like education and health. There is a lot of meeting ground with the Left. There is absolutely no meeting ground with BJP for what they did in Gujarat and Karnataka and burnt Christians in Orissa. There is a lot of common ground to do with the Left. There is a reasonable amount of common space," Rahul said in a media interaction programme in New Delhi on Tuesday, May 5.
