Sensex ends below 12k, Nifty came down 3,700 mark
Mumbai, May 6: The Sensex slipped below 12, 000 mark; and the Nifty climbed down the 3700 mark.
The 50-share NSE Nifty shut shop at 3625.05, down 1.01 per cent or 36.85 points. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed 178.33 points or 1.47 per cent lower at 11,952.75. The benchamark indices saw selling pressure in the second half of the session.
BSE Midcap Index declined 43.03 points or 1.16 per cent to 3,675.84 and Smallcap Index fell 9.57 points or 0.23 per cent, to end at 4,153.01. Broader indices saw selling pressure
Selling pressure was see in shares of financials, technology, auto, capital goods, FMCG, metal, oil marketing and realty companies.

the
Sensex
was
up
106.54
points
or
0.88%
at
12237.62,
and
the
Nifty
was
up
46.40
points
or
1.27%
at
3708.30.
The
markets
were
trading
with
good
gains
amid
volatility.
The
BSE
midcap
and
smallcap
indices
were
up
1.69
per
cent
and
2.37
per
cent
respectively.
Oil & gas, capital goods, power, metal and pharma stocks saw buying while FMGC stocks were trading weak. Stocks like Reliance, Infosys, L&T, Bharti Airtel and SBI were the contributors.
Havells India and Tulip Telecom were up 23 to 25 per cent while HBL Power, Kanoria Chemical, VTM, Geodesic, Kesoram and Info Edge gained 15 to 20per cent in the non-index stocks.
On the Sensex Hindalco, Reliance Comm, ONGC, Reliance were the gainers while TCS, ITC and M&M were loosing

Going up by 1 to 4 per cent, Hindalco, Reliance Communication, ONGC, Ranbaxy Labs, Tata Power, Siemens, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy, PNB and ABB proved to be top gainers.
Losing 1, 5 to 3 per cent ICICI Bank, Sterlite, TCS, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Axis Bank and Cipla became the top losers.

Forge
gained
6
to
11
per
cent.
Geodesic,
Graphite
India,
Genus
Power,
HBL
Power
and
Aptech
went
up

The losers were Sterlite, HCL Technologies, Cipla, Infosys, BPCL, ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, TCS, Reliance Industries and Bharti while Unitech, Suzlon, Reliance Capital, Reliance Power, Tata Communication and Ambuja Cements gained.
