Swine flu: 2nd suspect in Hyderabad
Hyderabad, May 4: Yet another case of swine flu or H1N1 influenza was reported from Hyderabad on Sunday, May 3. A 29-yr-old software professional was taken away directly from the airport and quarantined at a hospital, after he showed typical swine flu symptoms.
The techie landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from Leonberg, Germany on Saturday, May 2 night. After medical check-up it was found that he was suffering from cough, fever, cold and pain in the joints. Soon he was taken to General & Chest Hospital in Erragadda of Hyderabad.
The software professional hails from Chennai of Tamil Nadu. He is working with a Hyderabad-based firm and was in Germany on deputation for 1 months. So far Germany has reported 8 confirmed cases of swine flu.
Out of the 2,151 international passengers landed in India, barring this techie, all have reported negative during the initial screening. THe techie's throat, nasal, swabs, sputum and serum samples were sent to National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in New Delhi, on Sunday, May 4 for confirmatory tests.
