AAI employees threaten to strike from May 1

New Delhi, Apr 28: Airports Authority of India (AAI) employees on Monday, Apr 27 warned of an indefinite strike alleging that the management is transferring staffers from Delhi and Mumbai Airports.

About 3,000 of the AAI employees in Delhi and Mumbai have declined to join the GMR-led Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) and the GVK-led Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), who are operating the airports after they were privatised in 2006, as job security was not guaranteed to them by the private operators.

About 1,000 workers at these airports have either taken VRS or accepted transfers. The employees accused the management of forcing them to accept VRS or face transfer as both the airports were privatised.
