Election Commission gives clean chit to Manmohan Singh
New Delhi, Apr 27 (ANI): The Election Commission (EC) on Monday rejected a complaint made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Mahesh Jethmalani against Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, alleging that he had violated the poll code by appeasing Muslims to garner votes.
"The Commission has not found anything in the CD containing the speech of the Prime Minister," Deputy Election Commissioner J. P. Prakash told reporters here.
Jethmalani, a BJP candidate from the Mumbai North-Central parliamentary constituency, had accused the Prime Minister of appeasing Muslims by having said that the community had the first right to the country's resources.
The three-member Commission had watched the CD and decided to give Singh a clean chit. (ANI)
