Aakriti died of asphyxiation: Autopsy report

New Delhi, Apr 26: Delhi police informed the media that Aakriti Bhatia, a 12th Class student of the high profile Modern School in Vasant Vihar died of asphyxiation as per the autopsy report.

A police officer said to news agencies, "The post-mortem examination report hints that Aakriti died of asphyxia. It seems to be a natural death but we are awaiting her viscera report and any conclusion can be reached only after going through this report."

Meanwhile a candlelight vigil was carried out by Aakriti's family and friends demanding the resignation of the school principal. 17-year-old Aakriti suffered an asthma attack in school on Monday, Apr 20 and passed away while being taken to hospital. Her parents alleged negligence from school authorities resulted in Aakriti's death and are seeking school principal Goldy Malhotra's resignation.

Asphyxia is a condition of severely deficient supply of oxygen to the body that arises from being unable to breathe normally.
