Q4: HDFC net profit up by 34 pc

Mumbai, Apr 24: HDFC Bank has posted a net profit of Rs 630.88 crore in the fourth quarter (Q4) of the financial year ended March 31, 2009.

The bank on Thursday, Apr 23 revealed that in the Mar Quarter of FY '08 it saw a net profit of Rs 471.11 crore. The income has risen from Rs 3,505.52 crore in the year-ago period to Rs Rs 5,385.52 crore.

HDFC Bank"s net interest income went up 29 per cent to Rs 1,852 crore during fourth quarter. This increase was further strengthened by a 45.8 per cent increase in fees and commissions to Rs 714.80 crore.

The total income rose to Rs 19,622.88 crore in FY'09, from Rs 12,398.15 crore in the last fiscal.

The country"s second-largest lender has reported a rise of 33.91 despite experiencing increase in bad debts.
