Kasav's lawyer Waghmare removed from case

Mumbai, Apr 15: Anjali Waghmare, the lawyer appointed by the state to defend the terror suspect Ajmal Kasav was fired by the Special Court on Wednesday, Apr 15 for 'professional misconduct'.

Anjali Waghmare has been removed from the case by the court citing that she had taken up a case of a victim of Mumbai terror attacks, and allowing her to defend the terror suspect would be conflict of interest.

Ajmal Kasav's trial was scheduled to happen on Wednesday, Apr 15. The court is now deliberating on the possibilities of appointing another lawyer for the case and the trial may face a set back.

Even before the trial started, the special court was seeking to debar Kasav's lawyer Anjali Waghmare for the same reason that she had allegedly first accepted brief of a witness in this case before deciding to defend Kasav.
