Hate speech against church lands Sahu in trouble

Bhubaneshwar, Apr 11: A case has been lodged against Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate for Orissa's Kandhamal seat, Ashok Sahu for delivering an inflammatory speech at a public meeting.

While speaking at Raika town on Sunday, Apr 5, he accused the church of conversion. He reportedly claimed that Congress MP Radhakanta Nayak was using foreign money to spread Christianity.

"We have registered a case against Sahu. The matter is under investigation," District Superintendent of Police, S. Praveen Kumar, said.

Ashok Sahu, who was associated with the VHP in the past and had delivered provocative speeches during the communal violence last year. Kandhamal District witnessed communal violence last year following the murder of VHP leader Laxmanananda Saraswati.
