Moderate earthquake hits Rajasthan
Jaipur, Apr 9: A moderate earthquake hit Rajasthan on Thursday, Apr 9. The temblor struck the tourist town of Jaisalmer, injuring two school children and causing slight damages to homes and other buildings.
The quake measured a 5.3 on the Richter scale. The Indian Meteorological Department in New Delhi said the epicenter of the temblor was 30 kilometers from northwest of Jaisalmer.
The residents of the town rushed out of their homes when they felt the shocks that lasted a few seconds. The two children were injured when stones fell off the damaged school building, which located inside a 850-year-old red sandstone fort on the outskirts of Jaisalmer.
