Nafisa Ali, SP candidate for Lucknow

Lucknow, Apr 5: Samajwadi Party on Sunday, Apr 5 announced that Nafisa Ali, actor and activist will contest from Lucknow for the coming Lok Sabha polls on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Sanjay Dutt, the actor-turned-politican and SP General Secretary will campaign for her during the election.

Amar Singh, the SP leader said, "Congress had almost finalised Nafisa Ali's name for Lucknow. But I am honoured that when I asked Nafisa to contest the Lucknow seat on SP ticket instead of Sanjay Dutt, Nafisa said she believes in policies of Samajwadi Party. So she agreed to contest the Lucknow seat on SP ticket."

Earlier Supreme Court barred Sanjay Dutt, who was slated to contest from Lucknow on a SP ticket on the basis of his conviction in 1993 Mumbai blasts.
