Varun Gandhi moves Supreme Court against his detention under NSA

New Delhi, Apr 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court against his detention under the National Security Act (NSA).

The apex court will hear Varun's petition on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the BJP has constituted a panel led by its former President M Venkaiah Naidu to assess the situation on the ground and report back to its top leadership on the Varun controversy after his detention under NSA.

Earlier in the day, Varun, who was lodged in the district jail in Pilibhit in connection with a case pertaining to the alleged anti-Muslim remarks, was shifted to the Etah Jail late on Tuesday night for security reasons.

According to official sources, Varun was moved to avoid a law and order problem in Pilibhit.

On Tuesday, a petition was filed on behalf of Varun in the Allahabad High Court, challenging his detention under the NSA.

A Lucknow Division Bench will hear the petition on Thursday. (ANI)
