Robbers loot bus in New Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 26: In what can be called as daring robbery, three assailants boarded a bus in the Seelampur area of northeast Delhi and escaped with Rs 5,000 in cash as well as mobile phones and valuables looted from 35 passengers.

The robbers boarded the bus around 11.15 pm on Wednesday, Mar 26. The bus runs on route number 215 between Seelampur and Shivaji Stadium.

"One among them boarded the bus from the front door while the other two got on from the rear side near the Seelampur flyover. They took out arms and asked the driver not to stop the bus," Deputy Commissioner of Police S S Yadav said.

"The robbers brandished arms and asked the passengers to hand over their valuables and mobile phones. They also assaulted two passengers, hitting them on the head with a revolver after they objected," said Yadav.

"Six armed men boarded the bus, brandishing arms and threatening to kill us if we raised an alarm. They snatched Rs.3,500 from me and hit me with the butt of a revolver as I objected," said Ramesh Kumar, a victim.
