'Varun Gandhi is BJP's candidate'

New Delhi, Mar 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) affirmed that Varun Gandhi is their candidate from Pilibhit consitutency of Uttar Pradesh despite Election Commission (EC) taking action against him for his 'hate speech.'

Prakash Javadekar, BJP spokesperson said, "Varun Gandhi is our candidate from Pilibhit. He is the declared candidate of the party." When mediapersons asked what party would do if Varun is found guilty by poll panel then Javadekar said, "Let the Election Commission take action, then we will decide."

On Friday, Mar 20, Varun procured anticipatory bail for the criminal case filed against him by the EC. A reply was filed by Varun's lawyers to EC's notice that asked for an explanation for his communal speech in Pilibhit.
