Criminal Case against Varun Gandhi: EC
New Delhi, Mar 17: Election Commission of India has decided to file a criminal case against Varun Gandhi for his communal speeches against Muslim community during his election campaign in Pilibhit. ECI will file a case for non-bailable offence against Varun under the India Penal Code.
EC which reviewed the CD that shows Varun making 'hate speech' against Muslims has decided to serve notice to both Varun Gandhi and his party Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Varun, BJP candidate from Pilibhit in a rally said, "All the Hindus stay on this side and send the others to Pakistan. This is the Lotus hand, it will cut their throats after elections. They have names such as Karimullah, Mazurullah. If you see them in the night you would get scared."
He also said that anybody who dares to raise his hand on a Hindu, Varun Gandhi vowed to chop his hand off. Though Varun Gandhi had denied making communal speeches and said the footage is tampered, the CD shows the criminal act done by him.
BJP's Venkaiah Naidu has said that party won't take any action against Varun, but will follow Election Commission's decision.
