Techie throws just born baby into well

Chennai, Mar 14: In a heartrending incident a newborn baby was thrown into a well by her own father. The incident occurred when Niranjan Kumar, 29, an engineer with Cisco in Bangalore came to see his four-days-old daughter.

He has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by his wife Sangeetha, 22, and her parents who said he flung the baby into a well in his parents" house.

They alleged that Sangeetha, unable to withstand Niranjan"s pressure to abort the child, came to her parents" house here seven months ago. The baby was born on Monday, Mar 9.

On Friday, Mar 13 morning, Sangeetha woke up and noticed that her baby was missing. She alerted Niranjan. He allegedly told her that he had flung the baby into the well.

Neeranjan Kumar, the alleged killer, has now been remanded to judicial custody and police are investigating the case.

A case has been registered against him under section 302 of IPC, pertaining to murder.
