Chiranjeevi to contest from Tirupati for LS Polls
Hyderabad, Mar 11: Telugu mega star and Prajarajyam Party (PRP) chief Chiranjeevi said that he would contest for Lok Sabha Polls from the temple town Tirupati to the Andhra Pradesh assembly.
Chiranjeevi told reporters on Wednesday, Mar 11: "Tirupati is fixed. I may also contest from my native Narsapuram in West Godavari district if I decide to stand from a second constituency."
Chiru said that the list of its candidates contesting for PRP would be released in four to five days, ahead of the notification for elections. "Our list will have a fresh look with many new faces to the extent possible. We will field maximum number of women while at least 100 candidates belonging to Backward Classes will also be given a chance," Chiranjeevi said.
However, Chiranjeevi denied PRP supporting the BJP at the national level.
Sources attribute Chiru"s choice of Tirupati to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) founder N T Ramarao who contested from Tirupati and Nimmakuru in Krishna district when he floated TDP in 1983.
