Sean Penn in talks to star in "Cartel"

Washington, Mar 10 (ANI): American actor Sean Penn is said to be in talks for a role in upcoming movie "Cartel".

The movie is about Ed Marker's journey to protect his son after his wife is brutally murdered in the gritty world of Mexican cartels, and it had taken root at Imagine as a remake of 1993 Italian film "La scrota", reports Variety.

The Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment drama will have Asger Leth making his dramatic feature-directing debut, and its producer will be Brian Grazer, with Peter Craig as its scriptwriter.

Robert Stone and Webster Stone will be exec producers for the movie.

Its production is slated for summer, though its start date has not been confirmed yet pending until Penn's deal is made. (ANI)
