Raju and 4 others sent to CBI custody

Hyderabad, Mar 10: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday, Mar 10 took into custody Satyam's founder Ramalinga Raju and four other accused for interrogation. According to police officials, the accused were picked up from the Chanchalguda Jail at 9.30 am.

The Fourteenth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S Samuel Victor Emmanuel on Monday, Mar 9 sent all the accused to CBI custody for seven days from Tuesday, Mar 10.

Besides Raju and his brother Rama Raju, the CBI would also be quizzing the company's former Chief financial officer (CFO) Srinivas Vadlamani and audit house Price Waterhouse's partners S Gopalkrishnan and Talluri Srinivas in connection with Satyam-fraud case.

On March 3, the CBI had filed a petition seeking seven days custody of Raju brothers, former Satyam CFO V Srinivas and the two sacked auditors of PwC, which audited Satyam's accounts.

On Feb 20, the CBI had constituted a multi-disciplinary investigation team for the probe.

On Jan 7, Ramalinga Raju confessed to fraudulent manipulation of accounts over several years by inflating the company's profits and assets.
