Chidambaram's review meeting in Karnataka repeatedly postponed

Bangalore, Mar 7 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has lashed out over Home Minister P Chidambaram's statement that held him responsible for cancellation of the law and order review meeting fixed here for Saturday.

Yeddyurappa was annoyed over the Home Minister's statement.

"I am not responsible for cancellation of the meeting. It is Home Minister, who postponed the meeting on at least three occasions earlier", Yeddyurappa said.

"I need not be present at that meeting. I had authorized State Home Minister V S Acharya to attend it," Yeddyurappa said.

Meanwhile, Chidambaram said, "First the Karnataka Government was asked to organise a meeting on March 4, but the CM's office responded that it wasn't possible. When asked for an alternative date, the state government suggested March 5, which was mutually agreed upon.

But then again on March 3, Karnataka Government asked for another change, which was accepted by the Home Ministry. The much-awaited meeting was then fixed for March 7.

On Friday, the Karnataka Government again cancelled the meeting citing that the CM had to be in his constituency.

With general elections around the corner, the cancelled meetings are turning into a political issue. (ANI)
