Congress, Trinamool to jointly fight LS polls
Kolkata, Mar 2: The Congress party and the West Bengal based, Trinamool Congress (TC) party formed an alliance on Sunday, Mar 1 to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. West Bengal Congress President, Pranab Mukherjee, Trinamool Congress supremo, Mamata Banerjee and senior Congress leader K Keshava Rao held discussions for 70 minutes and decided to form an alliance.
Earlier in the day, Congress leaders had decided to form an alliance with the Trinamool to pose a challenge to the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) led Left Front, which has suffered a constant erosion of votes for about a year.
the congress party has decided not to field any contestant against Mamata in Kolkata South Lok Sabha seat.
