Chennai welcomes Oscar hero AR Rahman

Chennai, Feb 26: A R Rahman, the music maestro and first Indian to win 2 Oscars received heroic welcome by his fans and friends on Thursday, Feb 25 morning. Rahman bagged Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Song for works in 'Slumdog Millionaire' at the 81st Academy Awards.

He reached his home town of Chennai from Dubai by an Emirates Airways flight at around 2.30 am. Indian Airlines welcomed Mozart of Madras with Kerala's 'Kottu Melam' (percussion instrument).

Rahman said there are more things to come from him and this is just a beginning. He expressed his joy of being back home and said the reception he received was overwhelming.
