1-day-old baby sold for Rs 6000 in AP

Khamman, Feb 24: In a shocking incident a 20-year-ol woman sold her one day old baby for a mere Rs 6000 to clear the debt in the hospital. Tagarapu Rajitha gave birth to a baby boy on Feb 20 in Kothagudem Area hospital. The hospital staff reportedly asked her a bribe of Rs 2000 for anesthesia. She could not afford to pay the amount, sold her baby boy to a childless couple for Rs 6000 and cleared the debt.

Rajitha, who hails from Machiryala married Rammurthy against the wishes of her family, later came to know that he was already married. She left him and took refuge with a family known to her in Kothagudem of Khamman district. Investigation is on in the case. Action is likely against the hospital authorities.
