Case of murder against Army in Sopore killings
Sopore, Feb 22: The police have registered a case of murder against Indian Army in Kashmir after the Sopore firing incident that killed two youths on Saturday, Feb 21. This is the first incident of violence in the Kashmir valley since Omar Abdullah took charge as the new Chief Minister.
Police registered a case of murder under section 302 of the IPC against the 22 Rashtriya Rifles. The government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the case. Two youths were killed and another was critically injured on Saturday, Feb 21 when unidentified gunmen in combat uniform opened fire on a group of Sopore.
The locals accused of army firing without any provocation, while army in return said militants in combat dress opened fire to escape from security forces.
