CBI to probe Satyam fraud case soon
New Delhi, Feb 18: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the case of Rs 7,800 crore scam of Satyam Computers on Wednesday, Feb 18 from the CB-CID of the Andhra Pradesh Police. The case was taken over as per the notification issued on Wednesday, Feb 18 morning by the Andhra Pradesh government.
The Department of Personnel under which CBI functions issued a notification to the agency asking it to probe the scam. CBI sources said records and other material associated with theSatyam probe was being taken over by the agency and a case to this effect would be registered by the agency soon.
The agency can now avail upto nine days of custody of Satyam founder B Ramalinga Raju for probing, who has been interrogated only for five days ever since he was arrested on Jan 10.
