Modi taunts Chidambaram over internal links in Mumbai attack
Vadadora, Feb 16 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has taunted Home Minister P. Chidambaram for his remarks over internal elements being involved in the Mumbai terror attacks.
Modi charged the Central Government of being ignorant about the statement of Mumbai Police Chief Hassan Ghafoor that there was an internal involvement in the Mumbai attacks.
"Mumbai's Police Commissioner declared that there were locals involved. It was Ghafoor or else it would have been linked with me. Ghafoor later had to say that he has been quoted out of context. Such corruption goes on in this country by this Government. Chidambaram also became quiet. I don't have to clarify anything. I can sense a lack of will power to fight terrorism by this government," said Modi.
Chidambaram had earlier suggested that Modi should be asked if he was in touch with Islamabad since the Modi had said that internal elements were involved in the Mumbai attacks.
Pakistan has been harping on these comments.
India has blamed the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group for the attacks and charged that the perpetrators were 'clients and creations' of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence.
Islamabad has acknowledged that the November 2008 attack in Mumbai was launched partly from Pakistan. (ANI)
