Indian Airlines catches fire in Patna

Patna, Feb 13: Indian Airlines is in limelight from one week for wrong reasons. One more air disaster was averted on Friday, Feb 13. Indian Airlines plane (IC 409) caught fire on its tail while landing.

It is said to be an electrical fire hence no emergency alarm was set off. The plane was flying from New Delhi to Patna. There were about 150 passengers on the board. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

It can be recalled here that a major accident was averted in Mumbai airport early on Monday, Feb 9 morning after India Air Force helicopter had a narrow escape with IC 866 aircraft which was part of Indian President Pratibha Patil's convoy.

When the memories of civilian plane narrowly missed a collision with President's helicopter in Mumbai was still haunting, another possible mid-air collision was averted on Tuesday, Feb 10 near Assam airspace.

This is third air tragedy which has been averted. More information are awaited.
