London, Feb 11 (ANI): It's absolutely safe to have eggs in breakfast, says a new study.

The research has debunked the myth that too many eggs can increase people's cholesterol levels.

The researchers have found that eggs have an "insignificant" affect on people's cholesterol.

In the mid-1960s, Britons ate an average of about five eggs a week, but health advice helped drive that figure down to less than two in the mid-1990s.

Juliet Gray and Bruce Griffin of Surrey University said that it was a "myth" that eating lots of eggs increased cholesterol levels

In fact saturated fats are more dangerous than the nutritious food.

Griffin advised that there is no need to limit egg consumption.

"Indeed they can be encouraged to include them in a healthy diet as they are one of nature's most nutritionally dense foods," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

"It is safe to go to work on an egg," he added.

The study appears in the British Nutrition Foundation's Nutrition Bulletin. (ANI)
