Govt to present Interim Budget on Feb 12

New Delhi, Jan 23: The last session of Union Parliament is scheduled to begin on Feb 12 and an interim Union Budget will be presented in the Lok Sabha four days later. The fortnight long session will have ten sittings. President of India, Pratibha Patil will address the joint sitting of both the Houses.

Parliament sources said that an interim Rail Budget will be presented in Lok Sabha on Feb 13. Both the budgets are expected to be vote-on-account exercise providing for expenditure for the first few months of the new financial year.

Sources said that the regular budget will be presented by the new government that will take over after the Lok Sabha polls. Earlier Election Commission of India have declared that polls will occur in April-May. Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha would discuss and adopt the 'Motion of Thanks' to the President for her address. It is learnt that government also plans to bring in some bills to replace some ordinances.
