Media blew up my statements: V S Achuthanandan
Thiruvanathapuram, Dec 3: Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan still remains unapologetic over the strange and shocking remarks he made about the slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, who lost his life in the gruesome Mumbai terror attacks. But now he has taken a U-turn and said that the media is the culprit. He expressed his condolence over Sandeep's death. It is the media that blew up his comments. But protest is mounting in Kerala demanding VS's resignation over the issue.
An embarrassed Left party sources told they regret CM's nasty comments. The Kerala CM refused to admit that he was wrong, as he returned back to the state on Tuesday, Dec 2 night from Bangalore. Kerala Chief Minister earlier had told Times Now news channel, "If it had not been (Major)Sandeep's house, not even a dog would have glanced that way," said the CM.
The Left finds itself in an embarassing position, forced to chastise a state CM and senior member of the Politburo for his loose comment. CPI General Secreatary Prakash Karat while reacting to V S Achuthanandan's remarks clarified that the CM's comments were regrettable. The CPM General secretary also added that he had spoken to Chief Minister Achuthanandan on the issue.
