Delhi-based scribe killed in Mumbai terror attack cremated
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The body of Sabina Sehgal Saikia, a journalist with a leading national daily who was killed in the Mumbai terror attack, was consigned to flames at Lodhi Road cremation grounds here today.
Beauty expert Shahnaz Husain, journalists Dilip Padgaonkar, Vikram Chandra, Vinod Nair, actor Nandita Das and politician-industrialist Naveen Jindal turned up at the crematorium at 1100 hrs to pay their last respects. A few of her regular readers also turned up at the cremation to pay homage to the departed soul.
Her body was flown to the capital last night and brought to her south Delhi home. Sabina is survived by her journalist husband Santanu Saikia, a daughter Arundhati(14) and son Aniruddha (11).
Sabina was among those trapped at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel when terrorists struck there on Wednesday night.
The terror attack left more than 190 killed and an estimated 250 injured.
