Tata, Punjab govt to set up automotive and driving institute

Patiala, Nov 29 (UNI) The Punjab Government in collaboration with Tata Motors will set up a modern state Automotive and Driving Skills Institute in Muktsar district.

Disclosing this here today, state Transport Minister Master Mohan Lal said the institute will be a joint venture with Tata Motors Ltd. Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) will be the nodal agency for setting up of this institute.

The Minister said that this institute will provide employment opportunities to youth of the state by providing specialised training in various trades like driving, auto mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning, auto painting, electrical engineering and in wielding. The institute will also provide training in driving all types of vehicles, including bulldozers and cranes.

Earlier, Master Mohan Lal flagged off buses on new routes and also issued appointment letters to the dependents of deceased employees of PRTC. Services of 45 daily wage workers were also regularised and appointment letters were issued to them.

Keeping in view the public demands, three buses were flagged off on new routes. These routes are Malerkotala to Ajmer Sharif, Chandigarh-Suratgarh via Ganganagar and Barnala to Hanumangarh.

The Corporation also proposes to start new services--- Patiala-Nainital and Bathinda to Jaipur via Hanumangarh and Bathinda to Salasar.
