Schedule for Panchayat bypolls announced
Chandigarh, Nov 29 (UNI) Haryana State Election Commission has released time schedule for conduct of Panchayat bye-elections for the remaining term to fill up seats of Panches, Sarpanches and Members of Panchayat Samities in all districts of the State, which have fallen vacant due to death, resignation, removal or disqualification or otherwise.
The State Election Commissioner Chander Singh said here today that the notices would be published on December 3 by District Election Officers (Panchayat) and the period to make nomination would be from December 4 to 6.
The candidates would have to furnish information in a prescribed format to the Returning Officer (Panchayat) by December 8 stating that he or she was not suffering from any disqualification.
He said that the nomination papers would be scrutinized on December 8 and these could be withdrawn by December 10 evening. The date of poll, if required, would be December 21.
In case of election to Panches and Sarpanches, the votes would be counted immediately after the close of the poll at the polling stations.
In case of elections to Members of Panchayat Samities, the counting would be held on December 22 at block headquarters at the places to be specified and notified by the District Election Officer (Panchayat).
