High technological competence needed in Army

Pune, Nov 29 (UNI) The warfares have become increasingly complex and multidisciplinary, which has created a demand for high degree of technological competence in the armed forces, General S F Rodrigues, PVSM VSM, Governor of Punjab said today.

General Rodrigues, addressing the cadets, after reviewing passing out parade of the 115th course this morning at the National Defence Academy's Khetrapal Parade Ground, Khadakwasala, said, ''Though there have been many changes in the Army, the one thing that has remained constant is the task to protect our country from danger, to help it cope with divisive forces.'' Meanwhile, speaking to reporters on sidelines of the function he expressed concern over the terror attacks on Mumbai and said now the time has arrived, when everyone should take part in safeguarding the nation, irrespective of their profession or other factors.

During the event, ACA D Mahajan was awarded the President's Gold Medal, ACC N Sayal won the Silver Medal and BCA Laldinpuia got the Bronze medal for standing first, second and third respectively in the overall order of merit of the Passing out course.
