Four arrested, country made bombs, weapons seized

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 29 (UNI) Four people, including two women were arrested on the charge of possessing country made bombs and lethal weapons at suburban Edamalaipatti Pudur here last night.

Police said the arrests were effected based on a complaint from Athimoolam, a cloth merchant from Woriyur in the city that two youths, riding on a motorcycle had relieved him of Rs 12,000 by branding gun and knife at Ammamandapam bus stop in Srirangam, near here.

Police alerted all the check posts. While carrying out checks on vehicles, Anand alias Chinna Anand and M Muthukumar of Chinthamani were questioned and during interrogation they admitted to committing the crime. The duo said they bought the country made bombs from two women.

On their information, a police party raided the houses of Ms Nirmala and Ms Sathya at Edamalaipattipudur and arrested them.

Explosives and some deadly weapons were seized from their possession.

All the arrested were remanded to judicial custody, police added.
