Consultation on list for SGTs: Minister
Tiruchirapalli, Nov 29 (UNI) Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Thangam Thennarasu said Education Department officials will hold consultation with Labour and Employment Department on preparing the state-level seniority list of candidates eligible for recruitment as secondary grade teachers (SGTs).
He told newsmen here yesterday, he and Labour Minister T M Anbarasan would take part in the consultation meeting to be convened in the first week of December.
The move became necessary in the wake of a court verdict to recruit SGTs based on state-level seniority in registration with the Employment Exchanges.
"Till now, the recruitment was done on district-level seniority and the Education Department did not possess any state-level seniority list. We will evolve a methodology at that meeting," he added.
He also said that as many as 7,000 SGTs would be recruited during the current financial year.
Mr Thennarasu said the Education Department had sent a proposal to the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) to sanction funds for the construction of compounds in schools where the the bank-sponsored schemes had already been implemented in eight phases.
To a question, he said no resistance should emerge from any section for the implementation of both the Activity-Based Learning and Active Learning Methodology programmes.
