Centre sanctions funds to MPs for health camps

Tuticorin, Nov 29 (UNI) Minister of State for Home Affairs V Radhika Selvi today said funds under a Central Government sponsored programme were sanctioned to Members of Parliament for their respective districts for conducting health camps.

Inaugurating a health mela organised by National Rural Health Mission and Tamil Nadu State Health Department at Vilathikulam near here, Ms Selvi said health camps were conducted with special care and attention, particularly in Tamil Nadu.

The objective of the camps was to reach medicines to rural people, she added.

A team of doctors, including an ENT specialist, an ophthalmologist, a gynaecologist, psychiatrist, paediatrician, dermatologist, Siddha specialist, dentist and general surgeons examined more than three thousand people in the last two camps held at Eral and Puthiyamputhur, she added.

District Collector Mr Palaniyandi, Health service Joint Director Dr Velusamy, Deputy Director S Uma were present at the health mela.
