BJP promises wheat to poor at Rs 2 per Kg in Rajasthan
Jaipur, Nov 29 (UNI) The ruling BJP has promised provision of wheat at cheap rate of Rs 2 to Rs 5 per Kg to poor families, waiving of crop levy, low interest rate agriculture loan and subsidised power supply to farmers, if voted back to power in the ensuing assembly polls in Rajasthan.
In a bid to counter sops announced by the Opposition Congress in its election manifesto, the ruling party has also announced many populist schemes and programmes in its election manifesto which was released here today.
Party vice president M Venkaiah Naidu released the 30-page document at the party state headquarters here in the presence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, former Deputy Chairperson of Rajya Sabha and sitting MP Najma Haptullah, party state president Om Prakash Mathur and several other leaders.
Briefing on the manifesto, the Chief Minister said that the party had committed to provide wheat at Rs 2 per Kg to 25 lakh BPL families and Rs 5 per Kg to as many above poverty line(APL) families.
While the crop levy of the farmers would be waived off, they would also get loan at 4 per cent rate of interest and power at the half of the prevailing rate, Ms Raje said. The difference of the rate would be paid by the state government to the banks and/or power companies, she said The ruling party would also provide Rs 50,000 to each girl, under Ladli Laxmi Scheme, on attaining the age of 21. It was also committed to provide employment to 10 lakh youths and Dhanwantri Health Insurance Scheme to poor families.
