Badal appeals PM to call meeting of CMs on terror

Moga, Nov 29 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to convene a meeting of all the Chief Ministers and leaders of all the political parties to discuss the security issue.

Addressing mediapersons here today, he also stressed the need for a joint national strategy to deal with terrorist attacks.

Urging the Centre to allocate more funds for the Punjab Police, he said though the Punjab police was strong enough to meet the terrorist challenge, the state police force needed more funds for modernisation and acquiring new and sophisicated weapons.

Meanwhile, replying to a question about the name of party candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, he said there were no differences between the Shiromani Akali Dal and its alliance partner BJP over the selection of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections and a joint high-level committee of alliance partners would meet soon and select the candidates.

Regarding development works in Moga town, Mr Badal said the state government would provide Rs 100 crore for the various development works including Rs 40 crore for improving sewerage and water supply in the town.
